"USE WATER WISELY"
|
Turf should be installed within 4-5 hours of delivery on days when temperatures exceed 30°C degrees or more.
Turf should be laid on good quality screened topsoil approx 70% sand / 30% soil to a minimum 50mm deep. preferably 100mm deep- thicker where needed to assist with surface drainage or other problems.
After top soil preparation and BEFORE TURFING spread Turf Launcher onto the soil evenly @ 3kgs to100 square metres .
Lay turf in a brick pattern (on sloping sites lay the turf lengthways across the slope), then a light roll (if possible).
WATER IMMEDIATELY AFTER LAYING.
Watering practices are very important for the initial 7-14 days or until the turf has taken root (ie: cannot pull corner of turf roll back). Do not allow the turf to dry out at this first stage, then water carefully for the next three (3) weeks. Then less frequent and deeper watering should begin
For the first three (3) weeks avoid the use of your new lawn. This gives the roots an opportunity to knit with the soil and ensure the turf remains smooth.
Begin mowing on the highest setting when required ensuring the surface is stable enough, just removing the top 1/3 of the leaf per mowing decrease height by a further 1/3 every 4-5 days until the desired height is achieved.
Once the turf is established, water wisely
Wise water use produces deep roots, which makes the turf more tolerant in dry conditions. Sandy soils may require a little more watering.
Fertilise six weeks after laying with Cobbitty Turf Special Fertiliser at the rate of 2.5 kg to the 100m2, ensuring that fertiliser is evenly spread and watered in well.
Then Fertilise every 8-10 weeks during the growing season (Spring to Autumn) using the Cobbitty Turf Special turf blend, following the directions on the label.
